Dry Eye Management

What is Dry Eye?  "Our eyes need tears to stay healthy and comfortable. If your eyes do not produce enough tears, it is called dry eye. Dry eye is also when your eyes do not make the right type of tears or tear film" 1

What are the symptoms of dry eye?
Burning, excessive tearing, itching and feeling like there is sand in your eye are all common symptoms that people with dry eye experience.

Treatment for Dry Eye
includes artificial tears, warm compresses, ocular hygiene, prescription medication, nutraceuticals and punctal plugs.

  • Physician Recommended Nutraceuticals are a wonderful addition when managing dry eye.  Omega 3's have been shown to improve inflammation which may be a contributing factor in your dry eye.  We recommend PRN because of the quality and research that goes into their products.
  • Punctal plugs are tiny medical devices that are inserted into the tear drainage system of the eyelid which may be a great addition in the treatment of dry eye because they allow more tears to remain on the eyes.
